Crochet Baby Poncho

Size Newborn to 3 Months

DIMENSIONS: 15 inches wide; 10 inches long

For larger sizes increase beginning chain using multiple of 2 plus 1. Example: for size 6 – 12 months start with a chain of 25.

Materials:

Yarn used:
Poncho: #3 Bernat Pipsqueak 1 (3.5 ounce) skein; Color White
Butterfly Motif: #3 scrap piece of white for wings; #3 or #4 scrap piece of pink

Crochet hook size H/5 mm

Make 2 Identical Panels

Ch 21

Row 1: sc in 3rd ch from hook; *ch 1; skip one ch; sc in next ch*. Repeat from * to * to end or row.10 sc total. Ch 2. Turn

Row 2: sc in 1st sp; *ch 1; sc in next sp*. Repeat from * to * to end of row ending with 10th sc in last sp. 10 sc total. Ch 2. Turn

Repeat row 2 for a total of 33 rows (including the 1st row). At end of last row tie off yarn leaving a 4” tail to weave in.

Attach Panels

Lay panels as shown above.

Using yarn needle and length of yarn, seam to join panels beginning at center neck corners and continuing to end. Cut yarn leaving a 4 inch tail to weave in.

Flip panels over to place seam side down. Fold long panel over on left side, to meet the edge of the panel on the right side as shown above.

Fold panel on the top right as shown above. Seam.

Neck Border

Insert hook at neckline; ch 1. Sc evenly spaced around entire neckline. Join with a sl st at beginning ch. Tie off.

Weave in all ends.
