Crochet Alpine Stitch

I chose the crochet alpine stitch for this crochet holiday scarf because it adds a special luxurious touch, along with the metallic yarn. The alpine stitch looks impressive and difficult, however it is truly a simple stitch that is easy to learn. The video tutorial below will make it that much easier!

Ch 29 (IMPORTANT: leave a 10 inch tail. You will be working with that tail at the end)

Follow pattern as for the ear warmer working for your preferred length ending on a sc row and leaving a 10 inch long tail. Scarf as shown is 54 inches long (without the pom poms).

Sl st into the 6th sp from the hook; *sl st into the 6th sp*. Rpt from * to * to the last sp.

Turn the work and sl st into the 1st st of the row. Tie off the yarn.

With the yarn needle and small length of yarn, Stitch the remaining hole (of the gathered bottom) closed.

POM POM

Attach pom pom using your preferred method depending on the type of loop that is on your pom pom.

Repeat the gathering and attaching pom pom for the opposite side.
