Crochet Fall Poncho
Free crochet pattern for this gorgeous crochet fall poncho is below. This is the perfect transition piece for summer into fall.

The pattern is SO easy. If you are a crochet beginner, you will pick up the fun mesh stitch easily. Then it’s just two identical panels, no increasing, no decreasing…EASY!

Materials:
Yarn used:
Red Heart Unforgettable
Color Echo 5 (3.5 ounce) skeins
Crochet Hook I/9/5.5 mm
Dimensions for Size Small:
25 inches wide
21 inches long
For larger sizes:
Increase the starting chain as needed ending with an odd number. For example for size medium use a starting chain of 141. Then increase the length by as many rows as you prefer, ending with a right side facing you row.
Abbreviations:
st = stitch
Sc = single crochet
Ch = chain
Sl = slip stitch
NOTE: Work with a slightly loose tension.
WORK 2 IDENTICAL PANELS
Ch 121
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. 120 sc’s Ch 3. Turn.
Row 2: sk 1st sp; *sl st in next sp; ch 2; sk next sp*. Repeat from * to * to last sp: sl st in last sp. 60 mesh spaces total. Ch 3. Turn
Row 3: sl st in 1st mesh opening;* ch 2; sl st in next mesh opening*. Repeat from * to * to last opening. Ch 2; sl st in last opening. Ch 3. Turn
Row 4 – 100: Repeat row 3.
BORDER (optional)
Work a sc border along the right and left edges of each panel.
ATTACH PANELS
With right sides together, wrong side facing you, attach panels at shoulders using a length of yarn and tapestry (or yarn) needle.
Seam approximately 10 inches from each edge to neck opening. Tie off yarn.
Weave in tails as needed.
NOTE: This style poncho is traditionally left open at the sides. If you prefer, you may add one large wooden button about halfway down each side. Sew through both panels.

Thank you for sharing this pattern. The poncho is so beautiful I was inspired to immediately go to Michael’s and purchase the exact yarn. Unfortunately I’m having problems with the gauge. What is your gauge?

5 stitches = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1 inch
I’m so glad you like this pattern. Keep in mind this yarn is rather stretchy. I had the bottom stretch out a bit as I working the upper portion. I thought I had accidentally switched hooks! But it all works out in the end.
