This is the basic pattern. For more details (specific materials list, gauge, etc), no ads, printing ability, and more how-to photos please purchase the Etsy pattern (only $2.99!) here: CrazyCoolCrochetUS

Work 2 Identical Panels:

Use super bulky yarn and an N hook for best results.

Ch 32

Row 1: sc in 1st ch from hook and in ea ch across. Ch1. Turn 31 sc

Row 2: sc in 1st sc and in ea sc across. Ch 1. Turn 31 sc

Repeat Row 2 for 16” height.

Sc along each side evenly spaced, placing 2 sc in corners. Tie off.

Attach Panels:

With right sides together, sl st with yarn needle along 3 sides, picking up only the inside strand as shown in photo. Turn right side out, insert pillow, sew remaining side closed.

Fringe:

Using any object (I used a gum packet) or your fingers, wind yarn around aprox 20x repeating as necessary to get enough 3” lengths of yarn.

Attach fringe (use a smaller hook) to one side only, attaching one 3” strand in each sc sp as follows:

Begin 6 rows from top, skipping the first 3 sc’s and ending 3 sc’s from the end of the row. End 6 rows from the bottom.

Optional: I also skipped 2 rows after completing the top 10 (aprox) rows; completed another 3 rows and skipped another 2 rows before resuming with the bottom portion. If you prefer, you can fill in all rows rather than skip any center rows.

After pulling loop through the sc sp, grab only one strand and pull through loop. Hold both strands and tighten.

This goes surprisingly fast. You may need to trim some stands, here and there, after attaching.

I have your free pattern for “Crazy Vintage Style Hat” but here is no hook size. Am I just supposed to figure it out?
