You can customize this extra long rectangular shawl to make it shorter. Using a multiple of 8 plus 12, subtract 8 chains as many times as necessary to reach your desired length, then add 12 chains at the end of your count.
You may use any #2 yarn in any color scheme. Ombre yarn would work well.
Be sure to watch the video tutorial above for clarity on any of the written pattern.
You may use your own color scheme. If you choose to use different colors as I did here, you will cut off the first color at the end of the applicable row and attach the new color leaving a 5 inch tail to weave in.
You may substitute the #2 yarn with a #3 which may result in a slightly larger finished garment.

SCALLOPED EDGES
Row 1: With wrong side of short edge facing you, attach yarn with a ch. Sc in the same sp. Sc in approximately ea st across the edge. You may enter 2 sc’s in the larger sp’s. Use your discretion with the placement of the sc’s to work as evenly as possible across the row. Ch 3. Turn
Row 2: Sk 1st 2 st’s. *Work 4 Tr in the next ch; ch 1; sk 2 st’s; sc in the next st; ch 1; sk 2 st’s*. Rpt from * to * to end of row.
Note: Depending on the number of sc’s worked into Row 1 of the edging, you might not end evenly at the end of Row 2. Use your discretion to skip st’s toward the end to fit in the last cluster, or end with 1 Tr in the last st. Ending evenly is not crucial to the design.
Tie off yarn.
Repeat on the opposite side.
