Crochet Oversized Cardigan Free Pattern
This gorgeous Crochet Oversized Cardigan free pattern, is so stylish in its simplicity. This is an EASY pattern that crochet beginners will enjoy. Experienced crocheters will love how fast it works up! This uses #4 medium yarn. Extra warm and cozy!
This crochet oversized cardigan uses only single crochets for the entire project. However, it works up fast due to a little bit larger than usual hook. This also creates a very soft, flowy drape as the stitches are not dense. This all results in a very comfortable (and warm!) crochet cardigan.

SLEEVES (make 2)
CH 21 (21, 25, 25, 29, 33, 35) with main color
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in ea ch across. 20 (20, 24, 24, 28, 32, 34) total sc’s. Ch 1. Turn

At end of last row attach darker color yarn with a chain 1.
Working along the long edge work sc’s evenly spaced into the edge spaces. Take care to space evenly so the sc’s are not bunched up or spaced too far apart. For size Small you will enter approximately 54 sc’s.
Row 2 – 12 (12, 12, 14, 14, 16, 16): Sc in 1st sp and ea sp across. Ch 1. Turn. At end of last row cut off yarn.
NOTE: Total sc’s are determined by the number of sc’s entered in the first row. As this number can vary according to how many sc’’s you began with, I will not include a stitch count here.
SEAMS
IMPORTANT NOTE: The front and back panels will be turned “up and down”, lengthwise when we seam. First photo above shows the front panel as it is worked. The second photo shows front panel turned up and down.
With wrong sides facing you, place front and back panels together.
Seam shoulders/drop sleeve using yarn needle, length of yarn and whip stitch.
With wrong sides facing you, seam sleeve to body using whip stitch. Find center of sleeve (last purple row) and position at shoulder seam. Use stitch marker to mark the center.
Using same method, seam at side edges working from bottom, up along the edge and along the sleeves and cuff.
NOTE: When you get to the cuff, change yarn color. Turn right side out and seam the cuff on the “right” side. When you fold the cuff over the seam will not show.
EDGING
With main color, front side facing you, work 1 row of sc’s evenly spaced around entire edge of garment (neck, front, bottom). Enter 4 sc’s in each bottom corner to maintain the corner. Sl st in the beginning sc; ch 2; cut yarn and pull through ch; squeeze down the ch’s to form knot.
Weave in all tails.
