Crochet Pillow Cover with Envelope Flap

crochet-pillow-cover-with-envelope-flap

FREE PATTERN and VIDEO tutorial is below for this gorgeous crochet pillow cover with envelope flap opening. And of course the fun fringe adds to the unique design!

This crochet pillow cover is absolutely perfect for those of you who sell at craft fairs! The envelope flap opening allows for fast, easy removal of the pillow insert. This means you need only one or two pillows for display and your pillow covers can be viewed and changed out for customers to see their favorites “in action”. LOL. Since you’re only selling the crochet pillow covers (without the actual pillows) it takes up much less precious display space.

Additionally, because you are using #5 bulky yarn it works up super fast. You can also use #4 yarn to make many variations of this crochet pillow cover. The profit margins for this design are incredible!

This crochet pillow cover pattern is SO easy, using only the most basic crochet stitches. If you are a crochet beginner, you will easily learn how to do increases and how to make tassels.

The video tutorial for this fun, fast is bellow. As this little Crazy Cool Crochet business is my only source of income, your support, by subscribing, is greatly appreciated! Fits 18 x 18 inch Pillow

Adjust size by adding or subtracting to starting chain by measuring your pillow and adding or subtracting rows as needed. Example: for a 16 x 16 pillow make a starting chain 16 inches long and rows measuring 16 inches long. Then adjust for the flap using as many sc’s for the last 4 rows as you have for the back panel. Example: back panel has 42 sc’s; last 4 rows of the flap should have 42 sc’s.

ATTACH FLAP TO BACK PANEL

crochet cushion pattern

Place panels right sides together (right sides touching) with flap on top of back panel. Using yarn needle and length of yarn, whip stitch to seam. Tie off.

ATTACH FRONT PANEL TO BACK PANEL

Place panels right sides together and seam along the edge, bottom and second edge. (If you made the front panel shorter than the back panel, be sure to adjust the placement of the panels as needed.)

TASSLES

Using any object that is 4 inches long (I used a small address book; a cell phone might work as well), wind yarn around object 10 times. Cut the strand of yarn at bottom (only that single strand).

Take a separate strand of yarn about 5 inches long and insert behind the strands of yarn on the object. Slide that strand toward the top of the object placing the strand at the center of the strands. Tie tightly.

Slip the strands off of the object. Cut the loops at the bottom.

crochet tassels

Take a separate strand of yarn about 10 inches long; place under the tassel about 3/4 inch from the top and tie very securely. Cut strand to match the length of the tassel.

Attach tassle to front of flap evenly spaced by taking the top shorter strand and pulling through a space on the flap using the crochet hook. Taking the second shorter strand at top of tassle, tie the two strands tightly. Weave tails and tie off.

Repeat using 4 tassles on each side and one in the center.
