Materials:
I would suggest using a softer yarn than I used here. My state went on pandemic lockdown (of sorts) and I couldn’t get to the store for different yarn. I would have preferred something like Loops & Threads Soft and Shiny for drapeability.

For larger sizes use a multiple of 17 plus one for the foundation chain.
Each color block has 17 sc’s and is 20 rows high.
For foundation row for all sizes, each color requires a chain of 17 with the exception of the last color chain which has 18 chains. (multiple 17 plus 1)
Medium – add one additional color block to the foundation row. First 3 blocks require 17 chains each; 4th color block (repeat lightest color) is 18 chains. Foundation ch total 69 ch’s.
Large – x Large – add one additional color block to the foundation row. First 4 blocks require 17 chains each; 5th color block (medium color) is 18 chains. Foundation ch total 86 ch’s.
1X – add one additional color block to the foundation row. First 5 blocks require 17 chains each; 6th color block (dark color) is 18 chains. Foundation ch total 103 ch’s.
2X – add one additional color block to the foundation row. First 6 blocks require 17 chains each; 7th color block (lightest color) is 18 chains. Foundation ch total 120 ch’s.
NOTE: Color scheme is as follows: First “row” of colors begins with lightest color, then medium color, then darkest color. For each size as required begin the color scheme again. Example: size medium will be Lightest, Medium, Darkest, Lightest. Size large will be Lightest, Medium, Darkest, Lightest, Medium.
PANEL (make 2)
Ch 17 with lightest color; attach medium color for 17 chains; attach darkest color for 18 chains
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook; sc in next 15 ch’s; begin 17th sc with current color for 2 loops on hook; drop current color to the back of work, attach medium color to complete that sc. Work 16 sc’s in next 16 ch’s; in next ch begin 17th sc with current color for 2 loops on hook; drop current color to the back of work, attach darkest color to complete that sc; sc in next 17 ch’s. Ch 1. Turn
Row 2: sc in 1st sp; sc in next 15 sp’s. Begin sc in 17th sp for 2 loops on hook. Drop current color to the front of work (this is the wrong side of panel; you are keeping the strands to the back of work); pick up next color to complete that sc; sc in next 16 sp’s. Drop current color to the front of work; pick up next color to complete that sc; sc in next 17 sp’s. Ch 1. Turn
Rows 3 – 20: Repeat Row 2. At end of last row, begin the 17th sc with current color for 2 loops on hook. Drop current color, attach next color to complete that sc. [See Note above for color scheme.] Ch 1. Turn
For remaining panel repeat Rows 3 – 20 in color scheme as needed for your size. Refer to “sizing” Note above. Add an additional “row” of 20 row color blocks for length for each size larger. For size small you will have 5 “rows” of 20 row color blocks.
ATTACH PANELS
Lay panels as shown in photo. The video might be more helpful. Use yarn needle and whip stitch. Ensure that you are matching up the block corners as you seam.
Flip panels so right side is facing up as shown in photo above. Fold panel showing at upper right of 1st photo so top corner meets at neck center point.
Then fold the other panel, showing at upper left of photo, as shown in 2nd photo. You will seam along the edge as shown with white arrow.
NECK BORDER
With right side facing you, using medium color yarn, work one row of sc’s evenly spaced around neckline. Sl st into the first sc when you reach the end of the row. Tie off yarn.
FRINGE
Using any object to get 8” lengths of yarn, wind yarn around object several times as needed. Cut along the bottom. Repeat as necessary to get enough lengths of yarn, using 2 per tassel, to cover the entire edge. For added interest, use the same color yarn per color block.
Insert hook in sp, grab 2 lengths of yarn (folded in half) on hook, pull through the space forming a loop large enough to pull the yarn though. With hook, pull the tail ends through loop. Tighten slightly at top where it forms a knot.
For added interest, add fringe to only one edge of the front and one (opposite) edge of the back. You may optionally add fringe to all 4 edges.
