SHOULDER SEAMS
With wrong sides facing up, position the front and back panels as shown in photo. Determine preferred width of neck opening. Suggest 8 inches. Mark with stitch markers. I use contrasting yarn. Using yarn needle, length of yarn, and a whip st, seam at shoulders.
BUTTONS (make 10; decorative; no button holes needed)
NOTE: Photos show buttons from a different project using different color yarn.
Using the contrasting color yarn, wind yarn around your index finger about 12 times. Carefully remove, holding tightly so it does not unwind.
Row 1: Insert hook through center to pull yarn through for a sc. Continue with sc’s all the way around for as many as needed to cover strands and create ring (approx 16 sc’s). Sl st in 1st sc. Leave a 10 inch tail. Cut off yarn.
Attach buttons to sleeve. Situate 5 buttons evenly along the center of sleeve. Using yarn needle and tail strand from button, work along the “chain” that formed at the edge of the button. Insert needle through button and sleeve. Insert needle back through the button and repeat around. Weave remaining tail through wrong side of sleeve.
ATTACH SLEEVES
Position sleeves as shown in photo centering with the shoulder seam. Use yarn needle, length of yarn and whip st to seam.
SEAM SIDES AND SLEEVE BOTTOMS
Use yarn needle, length of yarn and whip st to seam.
NECK BORDER
With contrasting yarn (as for the buttons) and the right side facing you, attach yarn at the shoulder seam with a chain. Work a sc into ea sp evenly until you reach the beginning sc. Sl st into the 1st sc. Tie off yarn.
