Just a little reminder that Crazy Cool Crochet is my only source of income (and I am entirely on my own financially and otherwise). Your support is greatly appreciated!! Please be sure to subscribe to this blog and my YouTube channel. [You might need to watch the video on YouTube in order to be able to click on the little red subscribe button.] By the way…another really great way to support your favorite YouTube channels is to allow the ads to run all the way. You don’t need to click on the ads (unless you want to learn more about that ad product or service), but not skipping the ads gets the YouTube creator a little more revenue. And Google Adsense does not pay all that much. But once you get a lot (as in thousands upon thousands) of subscribers and a lot more views, then the revenue can start to add up. So…every little bit helps! Again…THANKYOUVERYMUCH

NOTES:
Work with a loose tension throughout.
Gauge not given as this design stretches quite a bit and you are encouraged to use a loose tension. This may skew the gauge for each crocheter.
Foundation Row: Ch 80 for XSm – Large (96 XL – 2X); sl st into first ch to form a ring. Ch 1. Be very careful to ensure the chain has not twisted!
Row 1: Sc in same sp and ea ch around. 80 (96) sc’s. Sl st in 1st sc.
Row 2: ch 1; dc in same sp; ch 5; dc in same sp to form a corner; *ch 5; sk 3 st’s; sc in next st*; repeat from * to * until you have 5 (6) ch 5 spaces and 4 (5) sc’s; ch 5.
**Sk 3 st’s; dc in next st, ch 5, dc in same st to form a corner**. Repeat from * to * for 5 (6) ch 5 sp’s and 4 (5) sc’s; ch 5; then repeat from ** to ** all twice more to complete the 4 sides.
You will end with 3 st’s remaining. Sl st into top of beginning dc. You will have created 4 corners.
Row 3: Sl st into ch 5 sp of 1st corner; ch 1; dc in same sp; ch 5; dc in same sp. *Ch 5; sc in next ch 5 sp; ch 5*. Repeat from * to * until you reach the next corner. **Dc in ch 5 sp of corner; ch 5; dc in same sp**. Repeat from * to * to next corner; then repeat from ** to ** to complete all sides. At end of last side, after completing the last ch 5, sl st at top of starting dc (of the same row).
Note: with this, and each subsequent row, you will be creating an additional ch 5 sp on each of 4 sides. This enlarges the poncho with each row and allows you to end on any row that fits your desired size.
Repeat Row 3 for as many rows as desired. See size suggestions below.
Extra Small = 23 total rows
Small = 25 rows
Medium = 27 rows
Large = 31 rows
Fringe:
Using any object to get 8 inch lengths of yarn (I used a small address book), wind yarn around aprox 20x. Cut along the bottom. Repeat as necessary to get enough lengths of yarn, using 3 per tassel, to cover the entire edge.
Take 3 lengths of yarn and fold in half. With poncho right side up, insert hook under a ch 5 sp, grab the yarn onto hook, pull through the space forming a loop large enough to pull the yarn though as shown in photo. With hook, pull the tail ends through loop.
Tighten gently to form knot. Repeat for ea ch 5 space, going around entire edge of poncho.

Hi Cindy,
That should be enough. I used a bit less than your 590 yards. Have fun!

Can I use king of twrils 2ply. If so can you how many stitches I would need. Thank you
Hi Ronna,
I think it would be fine to use that yarn because it is the correct weight (Sport/Fine). I cannot advise regarding how many stitches to use as I have never used that particular yarn. As long as it is a #2 yarn you should be fine to use the pattern as written.
I hope this helps.

I’m so confused. I’m making the larger size 96 foundation chains which does not work out to make 4 corners. I end with 5 corners?? Have I done something wrong?
Hi Sharon,
I actually re-worked the first couple of rows for the larger size (96 ch’s) and it does work out to four corners. It’s a matter of very carefully following the instructions. Watch for the repeat stars (*). Some are one star * and some are two stars **. Take care that you are following the instruction between those stars when called for.
I hope this helps.
