Easy Crochet Summer Poncho
Isn’t this the most beautiful, easy crochet summer poncho? The pinks and peaches just scream SUMMER! In a good way of course. The FREE PATTERN and VIDEO are below.
What makes this design unique from any other crochet poncho is the open FRONT and sides. It is fully closed in the back (center seam), but the front is seamed just 2.5 inches near the bust, and left open for the rest of the front. This creates the pretty neckline and keeps you cooler in the summer.
FYI: This is me in the poncho photos. I am very short. This crochet summer poncho will not fit as long on the average height woman!
My videos and patterns are a labor of love and require a lot of work to produce. I adore my Crazy Cool Crochet business. It is my only source of income and I am entirely on my own. Your support, by watching my videos and subscribing (and not skipping the ads…LOL), and of course visiting my blog regularly, absolutely mean the world to me. I appreciate you all SO MUCH!

Repeat all for 2nd panel.
Attach 2 panels
Back
With wrong sides facing out, position 2 panels on top of each other. The 1st row of pink hdc’s forms the center seams/neckline. Right side has a ridge at bottom of starting foundation chain. Wrong side has a ridge at top of 1st row of hdc’s.
Seam from bottom of what will be the center back, up toward the back neck area. You can determine how large you want the neck opening. For my example poncho I measured 25 inches from the bottom up.
Using yarn needle and length of pink yarn, use a whip st starting at bottom corners, working under two strands of ea panel.
Front
Seam only 3 inches beginning from the neckline. Determine where you want the neckline to be. For my example I measured 21 inches from the bottom up.
Weave in tails.
Border
Add 2 rows of sc evenly spaced to the “raw” sides (short sides) beginning with right side facing you. At end of 1st row, ch 1, turn. Sc in ea sc to end. Tie off.
