Holiday Trends in DIY

Crafters, crocheters and DYIers (is that a word?) know it is never too early to start working on our holiday to-do list! With that in mind let’s start thinking about what will be hot in holiday trends in DIY this year. Lots of FREE CROCHET PATTERNS for handcrafted holiday ideas.

Whether you are a crocheter or crafter or DIYer (yes indeedy it is a real word! Is indeedy a word? LOL) who creates strictly for themselves or for gifting or if you are a crocheter who sells their crochet creations, you no doubt want to be on trend. Sure, classics are fun and always appreciated, but trending items might be even more fun and enjoyable for both the maker and the recipient.

Holiday Decor or Gifts?

Well both yes. But what should we work on first? I imagine if you are a seller of either holiday decor or holiday gifts you would work on both starting as soon as possible to build up your holiday crochet inventory.

We also need to consider that for holiday decor for the earlier of the traditional holidays, Halloween, we need to be on the ball sooner. That is assuming you still have plenty of time for Christmas gift-giving. And let’s not forget Thanksgiving decor!

Crochet Pumpkins are always a huge seller! You will even find knit and crochet pumpkins at major retailers. It is a no-brainer to include crochet pumpkins in your selling or gift giving list.

When I designed this Pumpkin Spice Fall Poncho, I had Thanksgiving in mind. And of course walks on crunchy, russet colored fallen leaves. Doesn’t that sound utterly lovely? PRINTABLE PATTERN: Fall Poncho

Holiday Sale Pricing

People are still shopping online quite a bit more than they did prior to the pandemic, so there is still opportunity for expanded sales for you makers. Where appropriate sellers should seriously consider placing their items “on sale”. According to Etsy, many more sales are generated for items with reduced sales prices than regular priced items.

Artfully Imperfect

YES! Etsy summed it up so perfectly!

As shoppers increasingly tap into their own creativity, expect the artfully imperfect look of DIY decor and gifts to have growing appeal.

Ok, so the first thing that came to mind was NO MORE FROGGING? Well, one can dream.

If you haven’t already, you might start working up your crochet holiday creations. Research what are the holiday trends in DIY and enjoy!
