Hi lovely vintage hat but I wish you had a video for this:/
Thank you so much! So sorry I haven’t created a video. But it’s certainly something I can work on!

Video created! Thank you for the suggestion.

Hi! Love the hat! However, I’m stuck on row 3 (already…lol) I did 8 DC in the 1st row, how do I end up with 15 DC in the 2nd row if I did one DC in the first space and 2 DC in each of the 8 DC? I end up with 17 DC. Look forward to hearing from you!
Yikes! So sorry. The beauty of crochet is you can adjust as you go. Usually the adjustments are to fit you better or to change up the design if you have your own ideas along the way. You shouldn’t have to adjust for a designer’s mistake. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. I did just work up another one of these for myself yesterday and it came out fine. Not sure where the disconnect is. I’ll look into it asap!
EDIT: I worked the second row again and it does work out to 15 DC’s (don’t count the starting chain 3).
I didn’t count the ch 3 and end up with 16 DC. If you DC 2 DC’s into 8 DC you end up with 16 DC plus the ch 3.
Hi Val,
You only enter 1 dc in the first sp.
Sylvia
Thank you, I will try this again.
I need help with the dc decrease. I chained 3, then do I yo in first space under chain 3?
Hello,
If you watch the video at about 5:05 it will show that you are not entering the hook under the chain 3.
Hope this helps.

How would this be made in a lighter weight yarn, a 4 weight. The count of chain etc would be very helpful.
Thank you
Hi Diane,
Thank you for the question. However, to give you a specific chain count (and the etc’s that would follow) for a different weight yarn, I would need to re-write the pattern. You can try to improvise by using two strands of the #4 and/or a larger hook.
Best,
Sylvia

How would you make this hat for a larger size?
Thank you for the question.
This is an adult size and already runs a bit on the larger side. Have you tried it yet?
I do not have instructions at this time for larger sizes.
